Despite all the criticism that Mark Zuckerberg has taken for his actions in the past, there is one thing that nobody can contest: Zuckerberg is an extremely shrewd business person. He often thinks in terms of decades, not days, weeks, or months, and has built the only site that has ever had the chance to take down (or at least compete with) Google. The report says that by hiring more tech savy people the agencies can keep doing business as usual. The report author does not understand two things:1) Ad agencies are a billing business not a technology business (no different than other fee based services like lawyers or real estate agents). It appears as though the concept of being “radically transparent” is reaching the huddled masses on social networks.Back in 2007, 31% of social network users admitted that they had falsified some of their profile details. Today, a new study suggests that we’re all actually quite honest about how we portray ourselves–at least, on Facebook.
Psychologists studied 236 US and German students and looked at how closely their real personalities matched up with their “idealized personalities”–who they’d like to be online. Apparently, the majority of the group didn’t play out their perfect persona, instead they were pretty transparent in who they were:
…there was no evidence of self-idealization, and ideal-self ratings did not predict observer impressions above and beyond actual personality

Adobe announced it's buying Omniture, the web analytics firm it's been using to track usage stats on its products for years. Omniture is one of the largest analytics companies out there, serving a roster of customers including America Online (this blog's parent company), British Telecom, Disney, eBay, and Ford. Adobe's using thick corporate-speak in its press announcements about this acquisition so far, but the upshot is that they can target content to users with the help of Omniture's behavior-tracking capabilities. That means Adobe is now well-positioned to get into the advertising business.
While Adobe sees Omniture as a business opportunity, some privacy-conscious web users see it as a spyware peddler. You may remember Omniture as the company behind the slightly shady 2o7.net domain, which looked to many users like an IP address, but was actually a domain that Omniture used to track stats. Yesterday we wrote about Adobe (Nasdaq: ADBE) and their potential spying on Adobe CS3 customers. The questions were based on screenshots showing a domain "2o7.net" which is owned by tracking firm Omniture. The screenshot (posted below again) shows what appears to be an internal IP address which it’s not. Why would Adobe try to hide the tracking with a fake IP address?John Nack, Adobe Photoshop product manager has provided a reply to the privacy concerns. He mentions that Adobe is closed this week and so his reply is the best he could find out while everyone else is away. We appreciate the effort John, thank you.

He notes, "When you launch an Adobe CS3 application the application pings out to what looks like an IP address – and internal IP address: 192.168.112.2O7."Now any tech geek knows that looks like an internal address and that Adobe has always monitored who is using their software on the network to make sure everything is legit. In fact I remember back to working at an elementary school in Brooklyn in the early days and getting buzzed about reg issues on the network.
But if you look closely at the IP address above, the 2O7 part looks weird – turns out it’s not the number two-hundred-seven but it’s actually two-letter-O-seven and that domain is owned by Web analytics firm Omniture. It seems so spyware-ish to
